After a few months spent intensively working in DC, the fellows are getting out of the building and out of the city to further test and refine their ideas as part of the Ideation phase.
The fellows woke up this morning in Palo Alto and will spend the coming week in the Bay Area attending the Startup Grind conference, visiting IDEO’s headquarters, and sitting in on design classes at the Stanford d.school. In addition to meeting experts in the design and startup communities, the fellows are also exploring the area and catching up with old friends and HFA alums (not that those two groups are mutually exclusive!).
This trip marks a period of extensive travel, with weeklong excursions to Toronto, Austin, and Boston planned to round out the Ideation phase in the next several weeks. Beyond that, the fellows are looking forward to spending time in New York City and New Orleans as part of the Implementation phase.
The coming travel over the remainder of the fellowship will bring the tally of cities visited to nine. With visits to Baltimore, Cleveland, Wilmington, and Vancouver in the fall as part of the Exploration phase, the fellows have had the opportunity to go coast to coast (and everywhere in between) in the name of human centered design and entrepreneurship.
