"We employed ethnographic research methods to understand the needs of those living with heart failure. We gained insights by observing and interviewing patients, shadowing doctors, and simulating adherence to a heart failure management plan (involving placebo pills, dietary restrictions, and daily weight tracking). We learned it was crucial to design a solution to fit their lifestyle and maintain their independence because patients spend over 8,500 hours outside of the healthcare setting."
