December 2 is the third annual #GivingTuesday, a national day of altruism that interrupts America's post-Thanksgiving commercial blitzkrieg and offers us a chance to use our time and money for giving back instead of purchasing.
Improving the greater good is at the heart of Health for America’s mission statement. Apart from attempting to improve the lives of many through identifying and solving problems within our healthcare system, Health for America invests in the future of our country by empowering the next generation of young leaders with tools and experiences to continue to create meaningful social impact well beyond the fellowship for the rest of their lives.
As Megan highlighted in her excellent summary of the first ten weeks of the program, the Fellows have already travelled across the country to engage with and be inspired by some of the nation’s most influential voices in healthcare, both public and private, and we have honed our entrepreneurial skills through needfinding exercises and a lean startup methodology workshop. I love Health for America because I continue to learn new things every day: from the the practical application of things I learned in school, to the many intricate facets of heart failure, to the complex inner-workings of our healthcare system.
So today on #GivingTuesday, make your gift one that keeps on giving by supporting a non-profit dedicated to the continued education and empowerment of the country’s youth and to the creation of a healthier America.
